Low overhead trace-logging

Scatter trace-points throughout the code. Each trace-point is identified by a single unique integer (Macro magic?). The last n (64? 256? 1024?) trace-points are stored in a global buffer; which gets flushed to disk when an anomalous situation is encountered (e.g. an exception is thrown).

Strategic vs. tactical programming

The great thing about programming is that you can do it at any level of abstraction -- from the minutest down-in-the guts detail, to broad strategic strokes of business logic.

There is absolutely no reason why a fully automated business should not have strategic programming roles as well as detailed "tactical" programming roles.
